Led Zeppelin Albums
Vinyl Collection 1969-2020

Led Zeppelin was een Engelse rockband, opgericht in 1968 door 
gitarist  Jimmy Page, nadat hij als enige lid van de Yardbirds was 
overgebleven.  Naast Page bestond Led Zeppelin uit Robert Plant 
(zang), John Paul Jones  (bas en toetsen) en  John Bonham (drums). 
In oktober 1968 neemt de groep zijn eerste plaat  op. Vervolgens 
gaat de groep van 15 oktober tot 20 december 1968 onder  de 
naam Led Zeppelin, genoemd naar Keith Moon's  manier om een 
slecht optreden te beschrijven (Goin' down like a lead  zeppelin), op 
tournee door Engeland. Daarna begint een Amerikaanse  tournee 
van 26 december '68 tot 8 februari '69. De setlist bestaat  voorna-
melijk uit songs uit het eerste album. Daarnaast speelt de groep on-
der andere Killing Floor, een bluesnummer van Howlin' Wolf dat la-
ter  in een bewerkte versie als The Lemon Song op Led Zeppelin II 
terecht zal  komen, en Pat's Delight, een drumsolo van John Bon-
ham die als Moby Dick eveneens op datzelfde album zal terecht-
komen. Op 12 januari 1969 komt het eerste album Led Zeppelin 
uit, een album met zowel harde blues als akoestische nummers.
Led Zeppelin heeft wereldwijd meer dan 200 miljoen albums ver-
kocht, waarvan alleen al 111,5 miljoen in de Verenigde Staten. De-
ze hoge verkoopcijfers zijn redelijk opmerkelijk te noemen, omdat 
de band ten eerste maar tien tot elf jaar bestond en ten tweede 
geen echte 'hitmachine' was, maar meer een band die het van de 
albums moest hebben. Hieruit zou geconcludeerd kunnen worden 
dat Led Zeppelin tot de beste rockbands ooit behoort en dat de 
band tot op de dag van vandaag zijn aandeel in de muziek nog 
niet verloren heeft. Nog steeds wordt Led Zeppelin als voorbeeld 
of inspiratiebron gezien door talloze nieuwe muzikanten.
