Folk, Irish.
Zelf zegt Rónán over het album:
“This is the Beautiful road, a dedication to a great friend of mine Brian McGill, who died a year and a half ago. We spent a lot of quality time together in West Kerry over the last bushel of years, playing music, chatting, telling stories, laughing at each others stuff, questioning the universe, listening to each other and looking out for each other, looking at sunsets, collecting stones, being friends and learning about friendship.
It's Brian's voice you hear at the start and the end of the song. A voice I got very fond of as time passed. These are voice recordings from his phone that he made while he was in hospital.
I admired Brian very much, I admired the way he faced up to life, questioned everything including himself, minded his intentions, owned up to his failings and looked after his friends.
Friendship is a treasure and I want to look after my friend. I don't know what happens in the after life but I believe in the possibility of a beautiful road and in the possibility of creating a beautiful road by singing about it. And if anyone know how to tune into that it'll be Brian, he'll be sure to know of such a road and it'll be sure to bring him all the way home to where he's supposed to go.”
