Time Life Albums
Collection 1966-2011

Time Life werd in 1961 opgericht als de boekendivisie 
van Time Inc. Het ontleende zijn naam aan Time Inc.'s 
hoeksteentijdschriften, Time and Life , maar bleef onaf-
hankelijk van beide. Vanaf 1967 combineerde Time Life 
haar boekenaanbod met muziekcollecties (twee tot vijf 
platen) en verpakt ze als een stevige boxset. Gedurende 
de jaren zeventig en tachtig groeide de selectie boeken, 
muziek en video's en werd deze gediversifieerd naar meer 
genres. Toen platenlabels in 1990 geen vinylalbums meer 
produceerden, stapte Time Life over op cd. Halverwege de 
jaren negentig verwierf Time Life Heartland Music , waar-
bij het Heartland Music-label nu als merk opdook. Dit be-
drijf werd vervolgens verkocht en is niet langer verbonden 
met Time Life. Eind 2003 werd Time Life overgenomen 
door Ripplewood Holdings LLC en ZelnickMedia om deel 
uit te maken van Direct Holdings Worldwide LLC. Direct 
Holdings Americas Inc. opereert als leider in de verkoop 
van muziek- en videoproducten onder het merk Time Life. 
Direct Holdings US Corp is sinds 2003 de wettelijke naam 
van Time Life en is niet langer eigendom van de voorma-
lige moedermaatschappij Time Warner , later Time Inc. op 
9 juni 2014. In maart 2007 leidde Ripplewood een groep 
die The Reader's Digest Association overnam. privé en be-
handelde Time Life als een onderdeel van RDA. Vanaf 2003 
werd in een disclaimer over het copyright vermeld dat het 
"niet gelieerd is aan Time Warner Inc. of Time Inc., "die 
eigenaar is van de tijdschriften Time and Life, waar deze 
bedrijfsnaam vandaan kwam. In 2013 verkocht Reader's 
Digest Association Time Life aan Mosaic Media Invest-
ment Partners.
