ABBA Albums
Collection 1968-2017

ABBA is de naam van een voormalige, megasuccessen boe-
kende, Zweedse popmuziekgroep, die bestond uit de volgen-
de vier vocalisten:Agnetha Fältskog (Jönköping, 5 april 1950); 
Björn Ulvaeus (Göteborg, 25 april 1945); Benny Andersson 
(Vällingby (Stockholm), 16 december 1946; Anni-Frid Lyngstad 
(Ballangen, Noorwegen), 15 november 1945. De naam ABBA 
is een acroniem  van de voornamen van de leden. Toch wordt 
de naam vaak als Abba  geschreven. Op hun albums wordt de 
eerste B in de naam vaak in  spiegelbeeld geschreven. ABBA is 
de op één na meest succesvolste band ter wereld. Ze nemen 
na The Beatles, de tweede plaats in qua aantal verkochte al-
bums (ruim 370 miljoen stuks). Het succes begon toen ABBA 
in 1974 het Eurovisiesongfestival won met het nummer Water-
loo. Manager van de groep was Stig Anderson. In 1983 werd 
een pauze ingelast, die echter leidde tot het uiteenvallen van 
de formatie. In 1999 ging in Londen de musical Mamma Mia!  
van start. Deze bevat de songs van ABBA maar heeft een ver-
haal dat niet  over de leden zelf gaat. Het werd overal in de 
wereld, in verschillende  talen, opgevoerd. In 2004 wees het 
viertal een aanbod van 1 miljard dollar af voor een eenmalige 
reünietournee van 100 concerten.
