"Crown Vic" volgt twee politieagenten over een tijdsspanne van een nacht, terwijl ze op patrouille zijn in Los Angeles. De een is Ray Mandel, een veteraan. De ander is de beginneling Nick Holland. De twee hebben de opdracht gekregen goed op te letten, omdat er momenteel twee politiemoordenaars rondlopen op zoek naar nieuwe slachtoffers. Bovendien hebben ze af te rekenen met een corrupte agent die op wraak zint.
