Taurus (Netherlands) biography
TAURUS are a Symphonic Prog group from the Netherlands formed in 1976. They released their debut album "Illusion of a Night" in 1981 with influences of GENESIS, KAYAK, and YES. It is not by coincidence that they included these influences in the music as Martin Scheffer's guitar work is Hackett like and bassist, Theo de Jong is ex-KAYAK's bass player. The album has a "Wind and Wuthering" feel, with Mellotron and strong symphonic passages. 

A live album was released in 1983, "Tapes Live", and later another studio effort "Works 1976-1981" that came out in 1990. Another live album saw the light of day in 1993 "See You Again". The band returned to the studio one last time in 1994 to record "On A Journey".

The band underwent many lineup changes as follows: 
Rob Spierenburg (keyboards), Martin Scheffer (vocals, guitar, 1976-82), Piet Traanberg (bass, 1976-79), Dennis Plantenga (drums, 1977-80, 1985-94), Theo de Jong (bass, 1979-80), Jos Schild (bass, double bass, 1980 onward), Rex Stulp (drums, 1980-81), Kees Wassenaar (drums, 1981-84), John Philippo (vocals, 1982-2000), Willem van Eijk (guitar, 1985-86), Spike Wolters (guitar, 1991-94), Roy Darman (drums, 1994 onward)
