De Top 2000 van 2016 werd van 25 t/m 31 december 2016 uitgezonden via NPO Radio 2.
Hierbij de songs 1076 tm 1100 in videoformaat.

Opmerkingen nav deel 44:
Prachtige song van Japan op 1085. Sommige video-editors monteren bij Nightporter beelden uit de film The Night Porter. Dit raakt kant noch wal. Film en song hebben NIETS met elkaar te maken.

Virtuoos gitaarspel van Steve Howe in 1087 (Roundabout), met daarnaast de engelenzang van Jon Anderson en de glittercape van Rick Wakeman. Howe speelde ook het flamencodeel in Queen’s Innuendo.
“I was in Montreux, and Queen were recording at Mountain Studios - the same studio where we made Going for the One. I go in, and they played me the whole album, but they saved “Innuendo” until last. I was incredibly blown away. They said, “We want you to play on that. Why don’t you race around like Paco de Lucía?” Brian May had three Gibson Chet Atkins, which are Spanish guitars. I found one I liked, we started doing takes, we tried different approaches, and then we went to dinner. After dinner, we went back to the studio, listened through, and comped together what you hear today. It was just a lovely experience with a lovely bunch of guys”

Lastig te maken 1094 (I Want It That Way). Omdat het videobestand corrupt was, kon ik niets anders doen dan het beeldmateriaal opnemen vanaf scherm. Daarom loopt de video, zeker in het begin, niet helemaal lekker. Wél de audio! Ik kijk uit naar ’n betere.
