Het album komt mooi op tijd voor de Ziggo Dome show op 27 maart, die inmiddels al helemaal uitverkocht is. De eerste single Magazine geeft alvast een voorproefje van hoe het album gaat klinken. Daarnaast is de band bevestigd voor Pinkpop.
Violence is de zesde studioalbum van Editors en is de opvolger van 2015's In Dream. Het album is geproduceerd door Leo Abrahams (Wild Beasts, Florence & The Machine) en Editors met aanvullende productie van Benjamin John Power (Blanck Mass, Fuck Buttons). Het album is gemixd door Cenzo Townshend en Alan Moulder.
Met de single Magazine maakt Editors meteen een stevig statement. ‘‘Magazine is a pointed finger aimed at those in power...some corrupt politician or businessman...a character, and a tongue in cheek poke at the empty posturing and playing to the masses of the power hungry.” aldus frontman Tom Smith.
