Nadat het programma van Fox-presentator Gretchen Carlson van primetime naar een daluur in de middag is verhuisd omdat ze niet in wilde gaan op de seksuele avances van haar baas Roger Ailes, besluit ze hem aan te klagen in de verwachting dat andere vrouwelijke collega's zich bij haar zullen aansluiten. Maar Ailes ziet er op toe dat zijn vrouwelijke presentatoren hem stuk voor stuk openlijk steunen. Alleen Fox-anchor Megyn Kelly heeft nog geen kant gekozen en komt daardoor meer en meer onder druk te staan. Ondertussen probeert Gretchens jonge, ambitieuze pupil Kayla Pospisil een wit voetje te halen bij haar baas en ondervindt ze zelf wat ze daarvoor moet doen.
