North Mississippi Allstars Discography (2000-2022)

At the turn of the 21st century, brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson (sons of producer Jim Dickinson) with then-bassist Chris Chew issued Shake Hands with Shorty as the North Mississippi Allstars. The set presented an energetic new read on the music of their Hill Country region -- Delta blues, bluegrass, hip-hop, funk, ragtime, and rockabilly. It was nominated for a Grammy. They have continued to deliver an astonishing diversity of styles and collaborations under an unapologetically muddy roots umbrella. 2005's Electric Blue Watermelon, 2008's chart-topping Hernando, and 2013's World Boogie Is Coming were all globally celebrated for their rawness and intensity. 2017's Prayer for Peace, their first offering without Chew (he left in 2015) exported rootsy acoustic blues as international folk music. 2022's swampy Set Sail included new members bassist Jesse Williams and vocalist Lamar Williams, Jr. It also included a guest spot by legendary soul singer William Bell.
