Last Night of the Proms 9-9-23 HDTV NZBonly

This performance is the season finale of the 2023 Proms. Joining the BBC Symphony Orchestra and maestro Marin Alsop on stage are superstar cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason and renowned Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen performing a range of classical music, from well-known works to lesser-known gems and even some brand new pieces.

Katie Derham hosts the first half of the evening’s celebrations, which feature music by Verdi, Wagner, Bruch, and Mascagni as well as a world premiere by rising star James B. Wilson, commissioned in honour of the BBC’s centenary last year.

Special guests Sandi Toksvig and Danielle de Niese also join in on the fun. Richard Strauss’s swashbuckling Don Juan sets the tone for the evening.
