ISLA 106 keert terug met dezelfde magische Ibiza soundIBIZA, 18 december 2023 - Na een periode van stilte en zorgelijke omstandigheden rondom de gezondheid van oprichter Peter Gelderblom, komt het zeer geliefde Dance Classics radiostation weer terug. Een nieuw hoofdstuk begint.Peter Gelderblom, de bezieler achter ISLA 106, werd eind oktober getroffen door gezondsheidsproblemen, wat het station tijdelijk tot stilstand bracht. Door de gezondsheidsproblemen is hij niet in staat om zijn pionierswerk voort te zetten.'The ISLA 106 Sound'De unieke muzikale signatuur van ISLA 106 blijft behouden, met de voortzetting van de zorgvuldig samengestelde tracks door Peter. De muzikale erfenis van het radiostation zal als eerbetoon aan hem als oprichter te beluisteren blijven en de luisteraars kunnen rekenen op dezelfde feeling qua muzikale invulling. Een groot deel van de programmering blijft ongewijzigd. De live-programma's worden in Januari 2024 weer hervat. Going Back To My RootsISLA 106 zal enkele strategische wijzigingen doorvoeren in de uitzendstructuur. De uitzendingen op FM zijn momenteel gestaakt maar in januari 2024 keert het radiostation weer terug op het eiland waar het bijna vier jaar geleden begon.

Gesprekken zijn wel gaande (oa Engeland & Italie)
ITM zijn overal nu herhalingen van herhalingen.

** Boogie Bunker Radio Zal enkel nog Herhalingen van Herhalingen uitzendingen, totdat de rekening betaald is aan Ben....

A bit of sad news, and how it came to be,

As any other release since about the year 2000, the Grandmix releases suffered the year of year decline in sales that affected the entire industry, whilst it actually performed better than most.
But, in order to keep the support of cooperating record companies, a certain minimum of sales were necessary.

And even with a number 1 position, which the last released Grandmix also achieved, the total sales were further diminished by the many illegal downloads posted by people who simply don't realize that they were effectively killing of a series they loved. And that is exactly what happened...

With the end of the releases on Sony, came the Grandmix, made to fit Radio 538's profile.
This kind of  s h i f t e d  the Grandmix  a w a y  from it being a  p u r e  D a n c e  M i x , to a reflection of what was popular on Radio 538.

The result was a mix that was broadcasted on the traditional moment in the year, but over time kinda lost its traditional purpose of featuring the best Dance Music of the year. Nevertheless creating a smooth flowing mix out of all of that still felt like a challenge I enjoyed.

This year however was insanely busy, and to be honest, I dreaded the idea of having to make a Grandmix on top of all that.
What also was part of it, was that it would feature so much music specifically aimed at radio, which I didn't even get around to listening to this year. 

What to do?

Changes at Radio 538 made the decision for me, and as a result,
There won't be a Grandmix 2023.

That of course is sad as it breaks a long standing tradition, but at the same time it felt like a relief, as it means having December for me and my family for the first time in 24 years.

You know I'll keep mixing and remixing, with many releases this year and many more in 2024. 

And as for the best dance Music,  'In The House 200' could just as well have been my kind of Grandmix of this year, as to me it incorporates the natural evolution of my everlasting love for Disco.

What IS planned
---------------
is a re-run of the Grandmix 1983 on December 30th  (so not on the 31st).

And Peter Kool surprised me by making a videoversion of last year's Grandmix 2022.
So that will be coming as a little bonus.

So, Upwards and Onwards with In The Mix, In The House, The Minimix, The Remixes, CD and Vinyl releases and High Fashion Mixes that are in the works!

P.s.

This week I saw illegal downloads for Grand 12 Inches 20. Please help me get the message across that that series might also end up discontinued, because some 'fans' crave to be the first to share it illegally...

So  please support the series by at least not endangering it'
