De in Australië geboren James Wilde woont nu in Engeland en schrijft historische fictie. 

Zijn Hereward Chronicles spelen zich af in Engeland 11e eeuw, waarbij de latere boeken gesitueerd zijn in Constantinopel in het  Byzantijnse rijk. Voor de Dark Age reeks maken we een flinke sprong terug in de tijd: Engeland, 4e eeuw.
