********ALL PURPLE REQUESTS ARE WELCOME******************
C-Note is the third live album released by Prince from the One Nite Alone... Tour. This album contains
recordings from the soundchecks prior to the show (open to NPG Music Club members), and is the third
compilation album of NPG Music Club downloads (covering tracks released in early 2003); the album was
released on the same day as The Chocolate Invasion and The Slaughterhouse, two other compilation albums.
In 2015, the album was re-released on the Tidal music service, initially only to stream before a
download store was opened three months later, offering the album in mp3 and flac files.
This could be considered an EP rather than an album, but is longer than some early full-length albums.
No singles were released from the album (although all of the five tracks had been available as
individual downloads previously). The album was not eligible for the charts, as it was available only
through the NPG Music Club.
Copenhagen and Empty Room were recorded on 25 October 2002 at the Falconer Salen, Frederiksberg,
Copenhagen, Denmark. Tokyo was recorded on 18 November 2002 at the Nippon Budokan, Tokyo, Japan.
Osaka was recorded on 28 November 2002 at the Osaka-Jo Hall, Osaka, Japan.
Nagoya was recorded on 29 November 2002 at the Nagoya ICC: Century Hall, Nagoya, Japan. Other than
Empty Room, the tracks are instrumental (other than a spoken refrain of "Tokyo" during Tokyo; Prince
had performed other such instrumentals in other cities on the One Nite Alone... Tour, which may also
have been named after their venue cities (perhaps only if they had been released).
In late 2003, the album was planned for inclusion as part of the The Chocolate Invasion 7 CD set,
which was put on hold indefinitely in late 2003, officially due to a manufacturing problem.
Although the album does not contain an official artist credit, it is credited as Prince and the
New Power Generation, as the individual tracks were credited as such and other live releases from the
tour were labeled as such. As a result, this album is the fifth and final album to be credited to
Prince and the New Power Generation.
The audio was recorded directly from the mix console of Prince’s long time sound engineer, Scottie
Baldwin.
