Idiot Prayer: Nick Cave Alone at Alexandra Palace' werd opgenomen in juni 2020 toen het Verenigd Koninkrijk langzaam uit de lockdown ontwaakte en was bedoeld als een reactie op de isolatie van de voorgaande maanden.

Op 'Idiot Prayer' speelt Cave zijn liedjes solo op de piano in een zelden vertoonde gestripte vorm, van vroege Bad Seeds en Grinderman tracks tot nummers van het meest recente Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds-album 'Ghosteen'.
