Post Description
Folk-pop.
Pop with a folk soul. Or folk with a pop twist, depending on your ear. Meet Långbacka/Bådagård: the pop-meets-folk Swedish duo consisting of singers and multi-instrumentalists Maja Långbacka and Matilda Bådagård.
In April 2024, the duo released their new album, ”Growing Up Growing Down.” Renowned for their mesmerizing vocal harmonies and traditional fiddle playing, Långbacka/Bådagård also captivate audiences with their dynamic musical arrangements, incorporating electronic samplers and synthesizers. A unique musical universe, blending genres and merging tradition with innovation. Their music has been described as ”the soundtrack of a fairy tale” and ”as if Regina Spector had moved to the Scandinavian mountains and learned how to play the fiddle”. Or, simply, as pop music with a great portion of traditional folk music.
Following the acclaim of their previous album, ”Every Little Whisper Turns Into a Roar,” and an extensive tour that captivated fans both domestically and internationally, the duo has devoted the past few years to composing music for film and the performing arts. Their creative journey includes scoring soundtracks for several films, notably Camilla Läckberg’s ”Glaciär.”
In their earlier works, Långbacka/Bådagård drew inspiration from global events, reflecting on the refugee crisis, the Me Too movement, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the climate emergency. ”Growing Up Growing Down,” however, marks a shift inward, exploring profound themes such as parenthood, generational connections, spirituality, and identity. This album delves into the essence of roots and personal reflection.
