A Hidden Life - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack"
A Hidden Life - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" (14 tracks; 70 min.) opens with the title track, a gorgeous orchestral piece fronted by the violin, which plays the movie's musical leitmotiv and which we will hear quite a few times throughout the movie. Next comes Handel's "Israel In Egypt", a majestic choral tune. Then it's back to James Newton Howard's so(m)ber score with "Surrounded by Walls", "Return" and "Indoctrination". Check out the chilling "Morality In Darkness" and the 8 min. aching "Love and Suffering", which raises the hairs on my arms. Later on we get another epic and desperate 7 min. "Descent", before we get Dvorak's "Check Suite in D major, Op. 39" and then "Kleines Requiem Für Eine Polka" from composer Henyk Górecki. The soundtrack is rounded out by 2 more compositions from James Newton Howard, the restrained "Knotted", revisiting the musical leitmotiv, and the album-closing "There Will Be No Mysteries". Wow, just wow. It will take me some time to fully grasp both the movie and the soundtrack to the fullest.
