Tussen de release van The Rainbow Children en One Nite Alone... begon Prince aan zijn One Nite Alone... Tour, die de solo-intimiteit van zijn album tegenging met een opwindende reeks live-concerten waarin de talenten van Prince's en zijn steeds groter wordende New Power Generation band werden getoond, met achtergrondmuzikanten Sheila E., Maceo Parker, Eric Leeds, Candy Dulfer, Greg Boyer, Renato Neto, John Blackwell, en Rhonda Smith. Bestaande uit overstijgende hoogtepunten uit negen verschill
nde shows in maart en april 2002, One Nite Alone... Live! was het eerste officiële live-album van Prince's carrière. De 27 tracks bevatten selecties van The Rainbow Children (''Muse 2 The Pharaoh'', ''1+1+1 Is 3'') en reizen door Prince's uitgebreide achtergrond catalogus, gespeeld met de volledige NPG en verschillende solo piano excursies (''When U Were Mine'', ''Raspberry Beret'', ''Adore'', ''The Beautiful Ones'', ''Nothing Compares 2 U'').
