John Harbison Ulysses (BMOP)

A fine performance of an interesting piece. The first half of this ballet fascinates because of the way Harbison paints well known scenes from the Odyssey in music. The second half, concerning Ulysses' struggle with Penelope's suitors, is musically tighter and more of a unity. The orchestral playing and the recording are very good.
