Tijdens Carrie Mathison's verblijf in Irak als CIA-agent werd ze gewaarschuwd door een informant dat een Amerikaanse oorlogsgevangene door al-Qaeda is gehersenspoeld.
Nadat ze een ongeoorloofde operatie uitvoert wordt Carrie heringezet bij de CIA antiterreureenheid in Langley, Virginia.
