Geproduceerd door Nick Patrick en Don Reedman en opgenomen in de legendarische Abbey Road Studio 2, is Johnny Cash en The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra het laatste in een serie RPO-albums met klassieke opnames van tijdloze artiesten in sublieme nieuwe muzikale omgevingen.

Producenten Reedman en Patrick hebben met John Carter Cash, die als Executive Producer fungeert, overlegd bij de selectie van 12 Johnny Cash masteropnames die het album centreren.
