Delegation is een muzikale groep die in 1976 werd opgericht door Len Coley, Rick Bailey op zang, Roddy Harris. Het trio werd al snel ontdekt door muziekproducent / songwriter Ken Gold, die ook de hits "You to Me Are Everything" en "Can't Get By Without You" schreef en produceerde voor The Real Thing. Ken en zijn schrijfpartner, Micky Denne, schreven ook liedjes voor Aretha Franklin , Jackie Wilson en Cliff Richard.

In 1976 bracht Delegation hun eerste single uit, "The Promise Of Love", afkomstig van hun debuutalbum met dezelfde naam en uitgebracht op het label State Records, hoewel het niet succesvol was. Hun tweede single, "Where Is The Love We Used To Know", eveneens van hetzelfde album, werd in april 1977 in het Verenigd Koninkrijk in kaart gebracht en bezorgde de groep hun eerste hit, en bijgevolg hun eerste optreden in Top of the Pops.

Ray Patterson verving Roddy Harris later dat jaar en de groep bracht hun derde single uit, "You've Been Doing Me Wrong", wat hun tweede hit werd van het Promise of Love-album. "Oh Honey", een vlotte ballad, bezorgde de groep hun eerste Amerikaanse hit in 1979. Dit nummer bereikte # 5 in de Amerikaanse Billboard R & B-hitlijsten.

Coley verliet later de band en Bruce Dunbar nam zijn plaats in. Hun tweede album "Eau De Vie" werd uitgebracht in 1979. Dit album bleek zeer succesvol te zijn, inclusief de hits "You And I", "Put A Little Love On Me", "Heartache # 9" en "Darling I Think About You". Bruce verliet de groep in 1981 en keerde terug naar de VS na hun derde album getiteld "Delegation" en de groep ging verder met minder succes.

Ze volgden met een gelijknamig album in 1981 en Deuces High in 1982. Alle in kaart gebracht in Europa , maar niet in de Verenigde Staten. De act nam nog een paar singles op en bleef optreden tot het einde van het decennium. De plaat It's Your Turn , op Epic was alleen succesvol in Frankrijk , hoewel het goed deed in de clubscene in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, en The Mix on Scorpio Records, een aparte compilatie van vijf van hun grootste hits, werd ook slecht verkocht.

Bailey herenigde zich met Gold om in het midden van de jaren negentig Euro Jam Records te vormen, om de eerdere opnames van Delegation opnieuw in te pakken in nieuwe compilatiealbums , en hervormde de groep om Encore in Europa uit te brengen in 1999, maar dit was de laatste opname van Delegation.
