'Under A Mediterranean Sky' is het eerste nieuwe akoestische soloalbum van de legendarische gitarist Steve Hackett, sinds 2008 'Tribute' - een plaat waarop hij enkele van de prachtige klassieke stukken aanpakte die zijn gitaaridolen ook in de hand hadden gewerkt. Dit nieuwe album is echter geïnspireerd op Steve's uitgebreide reizen rond de Middellandse Zee. "A lot of acoustic ideas had been forming over the years, and it felt like the perfect time to create this album," notes Hackett, "a time t contemplate the places we've visited around the Mediterranean with the kind of music which evolved from the world of imagination." Het ontbreekt 'Under The Mediterranean Sky' niet aan de grandioosheid van Steve Hackett's recente elektrische soloplaten, maar het geeft wel ruimte aan de verbluffende breedte van de aanpak die hij op zijn akoestische gitaar moet spelen, wat ons er weer eens aan herinnert waarom Steve zo'n vereerde en gerespecteerde muzikant is.
