Post Description

“Setting Forth" is the second album from this talented Scottish duo. Coming from Fife and meeting as teenagers, the pair deliver songs that explore the East Coast of Scotland, all produced by David. The pair share the vocals with David on guitar and mandolin and Sandie paying both violin and viola. Erik Knussen provides double bass and cello. The music is both atmospheric and rich in sound and colour.

As a result of the limited instrumentation and backing on the album, the whole thing feels like a live gig and will make all the songs sound very personal to the listener.

The sounds, atmosphere and feel of Scotland run through the album like the letters in a stick of rock delivering a delightful blend of original and traditional Scottish folk music.

The pair have been playing and performing together for more than ten years and the synergy and energy between the two can be heard clearly throughout. David is an accomplished guitarist and songwriter, whilst Sandie was classically trained on violin, her playing giving the duo a "stand out" folk sound.

"Looks Like Rain" is a track that emphasises the way the two work together and is a delightful number. "My Love Is A Windmill" is another track in which the pair excel. David shows what an accomplished songwriter he is by drawing his inspiration both from geography and humanity. Mind you, Scotland is an easy country geographically to draw inspiration from, such is its natural beauty.

If you want to allow your imagination to drift across the highlands and lowlands of Scotland, take a listen to the music on offer here. It will take you to a land of natural beauty and some great music.
