Folk, Americana, singer-songwriter.

Guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Lea Marra calls her music “porch folk,” as she works — successfully — to convey an easy-going warmth in both her music and its performance. Despite writing and performing music since childhood and earning a degree in music therapy, her music — influenced by folk-rock and country artists such as the Dixie Chick, the Cranberries and Six Pence None the Richer — has an engagingly unstudied feel. Over time, she and her band, which she now calls the River Boys, have evolved from being a densely arranged Americana rock act to something sparser and woodier, with just three other members who together play guitar, mandolin, banjo and upright bass, topped with three-part harmonies.
