Gary Lewis & the Playboys was een Amerikaanse popband uit de jaren 60 van de 20e eeuw.

Gary, de zoon van Jerry Lewis, kreeg op zijn veertiende verjaardag een drumstel. Dit beviel hem zo goed, dat hij besloot om een band op te richtten. Hij noemde ze The Playboys en was na enkele jaren zover, dat hij met de band solliciteerde naar een job in Disneyland als huisband. Ze kregen de job, daarna volgden optredens in de tv-show Shindig en dat weer leidde tot een platencontract.

Direct hun eerste single This Diamond Ring, gecomponeerd door Al Kooper, werd een hit en miljoenenseller. Tot 1968 was de band regelmatig vertegenwoordigd in de US-charts. Bovendien was de band al sinds 1966 ontbonden, toen Gary zijn militaire dienstplicht moest vervullen. Het platenlabel had echter nog genoeg opgenomen titels om dit te overbruggen.

Na zijn terugkeer in 1968 probeerde Gary Lewis The Playboys weer nieuw leven in te blazen. Echter nu had de band slechts weinig successen en was de ontbinding definitief. De meeste bandleden vervoegden zich bij andere bands of werden studiomuzikant. Enkel Carl Radle bereikte een bepaalde graad aan bekendheid als muzikant bij Eric Clapton en Joe Cocker.

Gary Lewis treedt tegenwoordig nog incidenteel op met verschillende formaties in de Amerikaanse midwest.
