History's largest warship, the US nuclear aircraft carrier 'Nimitz', is about to embark on a routine voyage in the waters near Pearl Harbor. The ship is ambushed by a strange electrical storm. When the storm has calmed down, the crew notice that something isn't right. They receive programs from 1940 on their radios and a reconnaissance flight over Pearl Harbor leads to a most curious discovery. The American fleet of 1940 lies completely intact in the harbor; the sudden Japanese attack which destroyed this fleet has apparently not yet taken place. There is no other conclusion: the 'Nimitz' has been knocked back by the mysterious storm to December 6, 1941, the day before the attack on Pearl Harbor. Knowing what will happen, Captain Yelland is faced with the question of whether to intervene or let history take its course.
