Adventurer Ben Fogle is on a very personal pilgrimage. Travelling across Scotland’s remotest islands, he discovers that their spiritual legacy still resonates today.

EP1:

Ben Fogle explores the ancient sea roads of the Inner Hebrides, with their evocative connections to 6th-century Christian missionaries. 

On Tiree, Ben explores 1,300-year-old temple ruins. Although remoteness and Viking raids have obscured its history, an undeniable air of spirituality remains. 

Ben visits crofter Rhoda Meek, who balances farming life with a day job in IT. 

Julie Clarke left her life in Glasgow to escape a difficult upbringing and moved to the Isle of Coll, transitioning to a woman in the process. The island and its people gave her confidence and support. 

A highlight of Ben’s journey is a visit to Iona, the island after which he named his daughter. 

Ben ends his pilgrimage staying overnight in a shepherd's hut.
