The Rumor was een Engelse rockband uit eind jaren zeventig en begin jaren tachtig. Ze zijn vooral bekend als de begeleidingsband van Graham Parker , wiens vroege platen (van 1976 tot 1980) werden toegeschreven aan Graham Parker & The Rumor.
