Omar And The Howlers is een in Texas gevestigde elektrische blues- en bluesrockband . De originele Howlers werd in 1973 opgericht in Hattiesburg, Mississippi . Drie jaar later verhuisden ze naar Austin , Texas . De band toerde regelmatig door Europese landen. Onder leiding van zanger/gitarist Omar Dykes zijn ze vooral bekend van het album Hard Times in the Land of Plenty uit 1987 , waarvan meer dan een half miljoen exemplaren werden verkocht en waarvan de titelsong een top 20-hit was in Amerika.
