Mooie muziek, prettige stem, fraaie teksten in een pop/folk jasje. Aangename luistermomenten. 

Passenger released a surprise album, “Birds That Flew and Ships That Sailed,” that fits the mold of his past work, but I am fine with that as it works for him. Lyrically, this album focuses heavily on the passage of time, on uncontrollable life forces, and on figuring out what really matters.

On “Against The Grain,” Passenger sings of wanting to give and say more to ease the pain. The following lyrics are directed at that person “You swim against the tide / You go against the grain / And I just don't know when you're so far away.”
“Blink of an Eye” talks about how quickly life goes and what life can teach you: “Oh and practice taught me how to preach / I touched a world so out of reach and that time it lived and died in the blinking of an eye.” “New Until It’s Old” continues the passage of time line of thinking with “As you gaze upon the moon / Be it crescent, full, or new / It knows as well as me and you / Everything's new until it's old.”
As much as we may want to control what happens in life, there are forces that we simply cannot control. This is explored on”However It Comes, Wherever It Goes” with

“However it comes, wherever it goes / Water will run, wind it will blow / No one can say for nobody knows.” This idea is also covered on “Do What’s Right” with
“You can't stop the fire from blowing out / You can't keep the tide from going out / You can't stop the wolves from scratching at the door / You can't keep the rivers from running or hide from the storm that's coming / You can't find love if love ain't there no more.”
