Acoustic folk, roots.

Titled No Help Coming, the latest from founders/songwriters Adrian Glynn and Brendan McLeod with banjo player Chris Suen and violinist Carly Frey, follows up 2020s powerful Ridge. That WWI themed work based upon letters from soldiers in the trenches was lauded for its powerful arrangements and sensitive songs. No Help Coming jumps into a different battle, the continuing climate catastrophe.

\Following a summer of fire, Glynn and McLeod appear to be right on point in the choice of subject matter for inspiration in songs such as the leadoff singles Story of Our Times and It Might Just Rain Like This For Days. Far from being a sonic downer, the new material looks at global and personal grappling with the big issues.

“In fact, it’s purposefully uplifting and playful. When we asked environmental experts how music can help they said: no more doom and gloom,” said Glynn. “Pessimism distances us from action. What we need to do is look squarely at the problem and not give in to despair. This was a difficult mood to capture in an album, but we tried to do that.”
